Slow Cooker Classic Sweet Braise Porcupine Meatballs

Tender ground beef and rice meatballs slow-simmered in a sweet tomato sauce with Worcestershire and brown sugar. Old-school comfort food that practically cooks itself.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • ½ cup uncooked long grain rice
  • 1 egg
  • ¼ cup diced onion
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 Tbsp brown sugar

Instructions

In a large bowl, combine ground beef, uncooked rice, egg, onion, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined.

Form mixture into golf ball sized meatballs. Place meatballs in slow cooker.

In a separate bowl, whisk tomato sauce, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and brown sugar. Pour sauce over meatballs.

Cover and cook on LOW for 6 to 7 hours or HIGH for 3 to 4 hours. Stir gently halfway through cooking.

Serve warm and enjoy.
