“Commit your work to the Lord. ” – Proverbs 16:3

Crushed San Marzano-style tomatoes simmered with garlic, fresh basil and parsley, and a generous blend of Italian herbs. A from-scratch sauce that beats anything in a jar — make once, use all week.

Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1 medium yellow onion, finely diced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 (28 oz) cans crushed tomatoes
  • 1 Tbsp tomato paste
  • 1½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 3 Tbsp Italian seasoning
  • 2 Tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1½ tsp dried basil
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • ¼ tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 3 Tbsp fresh chopped parsley & basil

Instructions

Heat olive oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add diced onion and sauté until soft and translucent.

Stir in garlic and cook until fragrant. Add crushed tomatoes and tomato paste.

Season with salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, sugar, basil, oregano, and red pepper flakes. Stir well to combine.

Reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 25 to 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.

Stir in fresh herbs before serving. Serve warm or store in an airtight container.
