Fresh green beans slow-simmered with crispy bacon, chicken broth, and a hint of garlic until tender and savory. The Southern side dish that's worth the simmer.
Ingredients
- 1 lb fresh green beans, trimmed
- 3 slices bacon, chopped
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp garlic powder (optional)
Instructions
Cook bacon in a large skillet or pot until crisp. Remove bacon and set aside, leaving drippings in the pan.
Add green beans to the pot and stir to coat. Pour in chicken broth.
Season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Bring to a simmer.
Cover and cook 30–40 minutes until tender and flavorful. Stir bacon back in before serving.
Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
