Ingredients

Homemade Biscuit Dough

  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 Tbsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 6 Tbsp cold butter, cubed
  • ¾ cup cold buttermilk Sausage Gravy
  • 1 lb breakfast sausage
  • ¼ cup all purpose flour
  • 3 cups whole milk
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ¼ tsp garlic powder

Instructions

Preheat oven to 425°. In a large bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.

Cut in cold butter until crumbly. Stir in buttermilk just until dough forms.

Turn dough onto floured surface, gently fold, and pat to 1 inch thickness. Cut biscuits and place on baking sheet.

Bake 12 to 15 minutes until golden. In a skillet, brown sausage over medium heat.

Sprinkle flour over sausage and stir. Gradually add milk while stirring.

Simmer until thickened. Season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.

Split biscuits and spoon gravy over top. Serve warm and enjoy.
